Was Übersetzungen angeht, offenbar schon. Ich selbst habe zumindest deutlich bessere Erfahrungen mit Deepl als mit Google Translate oder generischen LLMs gemacht.

If we’re not talking about the super rich, because there is only a few dozen of them, and they have their own parallel universe… it’s usually mannerisms, language clues (in articulation and content), but of course also signals like expensive clothing and accessories. Also the places where they meet. This opens the door for all kinds of grifters who emulate behaviour and style to get into those circles. Jeffrey Epstein is an (in)famous example for this.

There is an aspect mentioned in there which hits the nail on the head for me. I’m not a game developer, but a developer nonetheless, and this ongoing AI debacle is taking a toll on my mental health too. I know very well that LLMs are not going to replace me, and that most of it is just hype, ignorance and stupidity by people who don’t have a clue about what’s involved in software development.

But that’s beside the point really. What hurts is the blatant disregard of human skills and craftsmanship which are necessary for making good software, and this a level of disrespect to me and my profession which is hard to swallow. Furthermore, the uncertainty and mayhem created in the industry over what is basically a lie (there is no intelligence in AI) makes it really really difficult now to work. It’s a massively frustrating shit show of delusional people and I’d rather become a goat farmer.

Dieser Aspekt wird im Artikel irgendwie vollends unterschlagen. Der Vorteil für kleine bis mittelgroße Unternehmen besteht ja gerade darin, die Infrastruktur nicht selbst hosten zu müssen. Wenn Souveränität nur darin besteht alles was bisher “in der Cloud” war nun wieder selber zu machen werden viele dankend ablehnen. Es braucht EU-Anbieter die diese Cloud-Dienste als Service anbieten. Heise lässt irgendwie schwer nach in letzter Zeit.

That’s a regular price for a basic nursing home as far as I know. We paid 3500 per month (7000 for two parents) for a nursing home that looked good at first but turned out to be horrible. Due to what I would call criminal negligence they both died after 1 1/2 years.

This does not reflect the general reality of German nursing homes at all. My experience with them is that most of them are just very grim places where old people are put to die quickly. The average time an elderly person lives in a nursing home in Germany is 2 years. That alone says a lot. It’s a profitable industry driven by overworked low-income workers. And it’s very expensive, even for the most basic of nursing homes. Having witnessed these horrors personally it makes me angry to read propaganda like this. Sure, there might be places where elderly are treated like this, but only if you can afford it. The vast majority of nursing homes are hell-holes. Germany can’t teach the world anything about good care for elderly people.

Das Grundproblem ist doch ein ganz anderes. Klar können Leute wie du und ich das einschätzen und Wege finden, das irgendwie zum Laufen zu kriegen. Aber das ist überhaupt nicht mein Punkt und das habe ich auch versucht darzustellen. Der Punkt ist, dass diese Chatbots ganz normalen Leuten als allwissendes Universalwerkzeug verkauft werden und diese Normalos überhaupt keine Chance haben den Output richtig einzuschätzen und die entsprechenden Schlüsse zu ziehen. Darüber hinaus unternehmen diese Anbieter auch nichts, um die Nutzer im Umgang mit LLMs zu schulen (ausser dem winzigen Disclaimer dass die Informationen falsch sein können am Ende der Seite). Stattdessen wird die Wunderwelt der künstlichen Intelligenz gepredigt.

Deine Argumentation “das ist ein Bedienproblem” zieht ab der Stelle nicht mehr wo Dinge als etwas verkauft werden was sie nicht sind. So zu tun als wäre ein LLM in irgendeiner Weise intelligent (und das tun ausnahmslos alle, die “AI” anbieten) ist absolut fahrlässig. Und aus dieser Perspektive betrache ich das eben auch wenn ich einen Chatbot teste.
