@penwing Yeah it seems to be connected to some truly horrific instances – which is an appalling place to dump new users!
@project1enigma That would be wonderful, thank y9u! I keep trying to schedule a time to switch but it's tough when life keeps throwing chores at me! :)
@project1enigma Yeah I need to move to wandering.shop like I've been planning, I'm still just really daunted by the whole process. And the instance I was talking about is called "free speech extremist" which seems to be an 8chan clone
I have to say, I'm not entirely sold on the fediverse as a concept – not only have I been getting extremely queerphobic replies from instances full of Nazis, but reading through one of them it also seems to be full of people openly talking about child molestation. Is this honestly the future of the internet?

The state of search in 2024:

Google: "We threw away decades of search knowledge and Internet indexing and just made an answer up "

Bing: "Here's 100 tangentially related pages from 2010 that I only included because your query appears in a tag cloud in the website's footer"

DuckDuckGo: "Here are the Bing results, only with ✨privacy✨"

Reddit: (this user has deleted their entire post history using PowerDeleteMyShit. Fuck /u/Spez)

Yahoo: "Oh thank god, someone's actually using our search engine! No, we're not just Bing!" *frantically trying to cover up the giant Bing sticker* "NO DON'T GO TO GOOGLE!!!!"

Yandex: "Here are all of the Russian-owned resources on this topic. Only Russian sources are trustworthy. Everything else is fake ne—I MEAN, misinformation"

Kagi: "We'll give you what Google used to give you for free, for the low low price of $10/month!"

Ask.com: [hoarse screaming and clawing noises can be heard from the ground beneath a headstone that says "Here lies Jeeves: 1996-2006"]

@noam Thanks, Noam — I blocked them and then after looking up the server I blocked that too. I really appreciate the advice :) xx
@NathanBurgoine Aww thank you! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Day eight of #PrideMonth and it's time for some alternate timelines, multiverses, and histories that never were...

Come visit a (very) queer Berlin in Redfern Jon Barrett's "Proud Pink Sky," and then take a tour of the multiverse (preferably before it's destroyed) in Sander Santiago's "One Verse Multi."

Wibbly-Wobbly-Timey-Wimey Pride!

I will always love speculative fiction, and most of my favourite reading experiences when I was younger—The Chrysalids, Witch, A Wrinkle in Time—involved time, space, and/or psychic abilities of so…

Just had my first Nazi on Mastodon experience:

- It is apparently “objective” to hate #LGBTQ people
- We “infest” cultures (typical far-right dehumanising rhetoric)
- And the old classic, equating LGBTQ people with paedophilia

I’ve reported the account, but am still uncertain as to how Mastodon works with server rules, etc, and would appreciate any help. It’s one of the replies to this post I made:

https://mastodon.social/@Redfern/112563762064332668

Of course it’s an account with an anime avatar and “traditional” font

@[email protected] It’s true. I looked up the server and “minds.com” is using the old free speech chestnut to justify hate speech, so it’s best to block the server.
