Well hello there Mastodon, have no idea how this works, trying to learn. I am a politically homeless advocate for all things #HumanRights #Disability & shouting about how our #Political system is killing us off. TBH I am just f**ked off and exhausted.
@Rhube oh I hear you, lost my whole social due to covid.
@Authenticdmckee thank you, I agree it's seems far more open in terms of discourse which feels liberating after being caught in the crossfire between echo chambers (do not recommend)

@AnarComNet I was part of organising and connecting networks during the first stages of the pandemic, the a mutual aid where I am was given a huge Big Lottery grant and was doing incredible work, the following year they lost all finding and had to close as couldn't afford the insurance. Was truly soul-destroying. So many involved have now walked away as it broke them.

This is my worry in that people became active in ways they never knew they would, worked so hard only for it to all fall down. Empathy burnout happened in all circles and then the infighting took over, those still active put up their walls and collaboration ceased to exist.

So what ideas can we take to people, the ones who are now without their cause who have no idea where to turn, where to put their energies or who feel it was all for nothing.

It's been heartbreaking to watch it all implode.

I am lucky in that I can go do other things in different areas behind the scenes but in terms of creating a movement that cuts through the bullshit, energies people again? It's looking harder and harder to break through the white noise.

@TheGMCSonoma I'm so sorry! When does the outside world realise it has been duped into believing covid is over 🙄 I mean come on how many times do people need to get infected to realise it's all smoke and mirrors 😔 I still wear a mask, my kids do too & my grandchild!! Not hard if a 3 year old can
@AnarComNet but how to give normal people that confidence here in the UK without overwhelming them with the reason why & how we got here? We seem to have a real problem here in the UK of that self-confidence feeling like imposter syndrome and an even bigger "it's not my problem" attitude. How can we organise in our communities when they feel pitted against eachother? How do we get the idea of mutual aid to feel real to the dissolutioned & exhausted? Having worked in Government & Community representation through advocacy it's seems we need to present these idea which a very new in some areas in a way that feels achievable to the people.
@AnarComNet @Authenticdmckee I am hoping to find individuals who share the same outlook on life & believe there is still a fight worth fighting for that isn't infighting with each other. I have been an advocate for year's & on socials desperately trying to stay out the echo chambers & infighting. I do believe we need power in numbers but the ego can't be the rulers in having open discourse which on Twitter it's all egos. So if you know of anyone on here or groups of people sick of the status quo please point me in the right direction. I would really appreciate any help you can give.
@TheGMCSonoma good luck! Not a great fan of in-person social encounters, social skills seem to have up and left after #Shielding for so long!
