The Machine’s both arms are done now. I’m at 18/23 costume pieces, with 5 more parts plus the paint job still missing. I can’t wait to see the whole armour in a funky purple colour!

I made good progress with The Machine in May. After finishing the boots, I built 3 new armour pieces: both upper arms and the right lower arm. The rough shape of the latter is based on the reference picture from the intro of Turrican 2, whereas the upper arms are my own addition, just like the thigh armour.

At this point I have 6 costume parts missing, plus of course the paint job. Right now I’m on schedule again; let’s see if it stays that way.

I’ve finished working on The Machine’s boots.

As usual, my primary reference picture came from the intro of Turrican 2. A few key elements on my boots are roughly based on it; everything else is my interpretation.

I’m currently behind my intended crafting schedule, so it’s possible that I won’t be debuting the costume at Gamescom after all. If that should happen, The Machine will make his first appearance at Amiga40 instead. We’ll see what happens.

The Machine now has armour for the right leg too. This piece has two LEDs: one with a static red glow and one that changes colour. The armour on the legs isn’t based on any reference, but I wanted to include them for a more consistent look.

Next up: boots!

This is my current costume project: The Machine from the Turrican game series. It’s my 13th cosplay that has to do with the Amiga.

My interpretation of the character is mostly based on the reference picture from the intro of Turrican 2, but I’ve combined it with a reimagined helmet design from Turrican 3 and a lot of inspiration from old-school Borg and other mechanical Sci-Fi beings.

So far I’ve made 11/23 costume parts, although the armour hasn’t been painted yet.
