Signs of spring my hellebores have had 5 years to settle in and are really spectacular this year. They started flowering in early December and seem to be reaching their peak now. The last few days have been gloriously sunny during the day with hard frosts at night. While it’s still too wet to dig over the garden. I have been making a start on the weeds. Digging my fingers into the earth always brings me into closer relationship within and without of myself.
Sometimes I make words as well as art. What seems like an age ago (nearly 2 years I think) I wrote an essay on wisdom @fiogedeparma and @janemeredithauthor’s Pearl Pentacle book. My box of contributors copies arrived a couple of days ago. Order your copy now (ideally from independent book stores)…. It’s showing up on shelves in the US around about now, next month for UK folk.
Some days I go out to the workshop and saw and sand and feel I’ve accomplished little beyond piles of sawdust and roughed out wooden blanks…. Then there are the days I get to finish things…. Or at least finish sanding, and today I got to do the sanding in the sun in the garden….. these wands will now move into the studio to be finished - some with pyrogrqphy. Some with just a beeswax polish coat or two.
