Hello, I still want to be a anonymous, but some details. 50+ married with 3 kids in Pittsburgh. I have been disabled my entire life and it's entirety is focused on survival. I have excelled at times but the periods are brief. My work when I could was in integrated medicine (Allegheny General Hospital and UPMC) and community behavioral health.

I am a Tibetan Buddhist, specifically Bon, and my view on mental health is Buddhist and my view on physical mostly biochemical/structural.

A year ago Paul Farmer died.
Yesterday, our 19 year old cat died and my 9 year old daughter C Farmer (yes she is related) said "why can't everything live forever?" As she held our dying boy.

We talked about how that is impossible and how our job is to make life as enjoyable as possible and be there for beings when life is no longer possible.

Since she was 4 she wanted to be a doctor to save lives. It is karmic for her. Paul and Booboo kitty will help her accomplish that.

I am back on the blades.
Slow and awkward but considering I've only been weight bearing for 3 weeks I am happy
I love empty rinks
I finally got a cool birthday hat

When you hold breath repeatedly, your heart rate will try to increase.
It can spike.
We are trying to slow breathing, really slow it and not spike heart rate. This is how you know you are accomplishing practice and ready for increased complexity and effort

Here is my heart rate graph.
Not bad

This is not like strip mall and health club yoga
You will see, it's a way to rebuild your body from the ground up.

You should follow me doing this.
For a reference point here are photos of ankle broken on 11/5

Holidays are exhausting
I could eat those
Happy Holidays

My mom died 9 1/2 years ago. She loved Christmas, it was the period of the year of hope, not so much religious, much more a spiritual happiness. My kids love Christmas. The family and traditions. Me not so much. It's maybe melancholy at best. But I made my mom's cookie that I loved the most. First time in over 15 yrs.
I had ankle surgery 11/10 and finally able to barely walk without crutches for a short distance. When I have talked about how elite athletes function at unreal level while having broken and dysfunctional bodies..
I give you Messi's ankles yesterday
