MEMO: O-Train Stage 2 South – Successful Operation of Nine Trains Begins.
TransitNext, the contractor responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the system, has begun demonstrating the ability to safely operate nine trains, the number required for revenue service, on Line 2, between Bayview and Limebank stations, and on Line 4, between South Keys and Airport stations.
OC Transpo is running both single trains and double trains for LRT due to technical restrictions. Staff says a software upgrade is expected soon that will include information on the electronic boards at every LRT station to let customers know whether a “single” or a “double” train is scheduled to arrive next and to better position on the platforms.
