Ok, currently moving over to @chris for my mastodon account. Please follow that, my small number of followers!
Oh my god guys, I just noticed that if you set your toot to be unlisted instead of public, the button says TOOT instead of TOOT! (Note the !) https://mastodon.social/media/nkT8XJ8bD8v7SkikDeo https://mastodon.social/media/U9rWUIi7YpcIVkYiFmA
@michcioperz given up on mast?

"ahahahah breadknives aren't sharp"

*runs thumb across breadknife*

"ahh fuck!"

I swear to god i'm so dumb

@solnic I really need to get my head around ROM and dry-rb so I can steal the ideas for crystal-lang! I've been looking at and hearing about these libraries for a while but never got the time to play with them.

@Gargron

Sorry to ping you, but do you have any pointers on this? What i'd love is the handle [email protected], but still be able to run a blog or something else on rx14.co.uk, with the mastodon web interface being on a subdomain or rx14.co.uk/mastodon/.

Any pointers?

Current feelings on Mastodon / the fediverse after a few days of almost constant usage:
- Following @rms is a new, fascinating experience.
- Loving the amount of toots and people who are talking. Way better than birdsite ever was from my perspective.
- Lack of brands and rt'ing bots is :ok_hand:
- Not going to lie, having a higher follower count than on the birdsite feels good. I'm horribly narcissistic like that.
One thing I would like to see on Mastodon is a way to migrate your account from one server to another. Maybe I am on social.tchncs.de now, but maybe I want to be on awoo.space. Later on, I might even have my own server. Being able to transfer is essential to owning an identity.

Ah, I love how people complain that they could be impersonated on a decentralized network.

your handle is not just @[username]

it's @[username]@[instance] so compare it to email. Share your link or your full handle, so people know it's you.

That's how it works. It's a feature.

BTW, is there any way to run [email protected] as my mastodon handle, but have the web interface be something like social.rx14.co.uk?
