Why am I seeing this so much in website #design? I love Copic markers, they're quite the best of the rendering markers out there, but I've seen this far too often on websites. The combination of a full-page image and text has to be done very carefully, or you end up with unreadable text. Blurs, some kind of semi-transparent color underlay, or clever image/text color pairing.. is there a design philosophy I'm missing? #uiux #webdev #graphicdesign

@polarity I agree, at least on Apple’s design. They’re innovating in some areas (software/features) but not in products or product categories. And certainly not in form and design.
I think the Tula Mic is a good example of “arty” but with good features. Though, I will admit I can’t think of a music product that is reasonably priced, designed well, and feature packed. Maybe the polyend tracker? But I don’t remember what it cost
@polarity convo starter though: what company out there do you see that innovates like TE, but does it in a better way? Who is more authentic in their design and product marketing? I know you have a love for bitwig 😉 but who else?
@polarity they were actually doing some pretty neat innovation, product design wise. But I get the feeling they were more interested in being a design firm than actually making music products as their main gig. A major music retailer dropped them because they couldn’t keep up with repairs. I love them for their design and creativity, but you’re right. It shouldn’t cost as much as it does to make music with their products.
@olivierlacan it’s been a while since I’ve been there but I think I used to haunt iconfactory… lots of good free icons. Also google nowadays should let you filter for transparent background?
