A lot of Filipino cyclists I get to talk to vastly prefer cycling on España vs Shaw Boulevard as a route in and out of Manila. What makes it a better bike route?
Shaw Boulevard is lined almost entirely with frontage parking, with no sidewalk to speak of. España has wide, protected sidewalks. Makes a huge difference in the cycling experience. Pedestrian infrastructure improves bikeability.

Marikina is often (and rightly) praised as a relatively bike-friendly city in the Philippines, but if you're coming from west of C5, it's incredibly difficult to get to and from without a car.
