Hello world!

Ever driven the same car or used the same camera or power drill for 8-10 years and thought: "I wish all these buttons and levers were suddenly in different places and did different things"?

Yeah. Me neither.

This is a toot about operating systems.

One thing that's tough for people who just join the Fediverse, like most of the folks on #theforkiverse , is that there are self-appointed experts who reply to their public posts saying that "the Fediverse" doesn't like that kind of content.

This is untrue. They don't speak for all of us. Nobody does. You can't spell "Fediverse" without "diverse"; for good or ill, there are different viewpoints on almost any topic found here.

wasn't planning on getting on BlueSky(heh, BS);
definitely not joining it now.

I never knew it was called the “Moylan arrow.” But now that I know, I will call it that. It’s such a super simple, yet super valuable innovation.

The Inventor Of The Little Arrow That Tells You What Side The Fuel Filler Is On Has Died

The idea came to Moylan on a rainy day in April 1986 when he hopped in one of Ford's employee fleet cars to drive to a meeting at another building.

@nullpotential if anything, it's the mennonites, still able to use a celly.
The Amish get weird real fast with their 'ban' or wte
and "not using technology" isn't as direct as they say
look up amish using forklift lolol

to me, the one's who had it right were the cantankerous old folks that made everything they needed on their own property across the board.
don't see too many of them these days...

@nullpotential right there with you

We did it!!!

We built a new free fridge and community pantry!

It took about a hundred days from deciding to do it, through planning, and finally execution (thread above tracks this). And that is for putting down concrete and electrical. If we did a simple fridge on a pallet, it can be quicker. But even going all out, dang!

So we held the ribbon cutting ceremony. A lot of folks showed up to do the initial stock. Now we'll maintain it and spread the word out to the community. The town has a food resource app. The library maintains a list. I'll add it to our site. The local paper is writing an article.

This is also just the first part of this fridge. They're adding another pantry and an awning to cover it all.

Alright. This one is done. On to the next one!
