Je kunt op deze kaart in ieder geval duidelijk zien waar terpen in de toekomst niet nodig zullen zijn. #klimaat
There's an interesting workshop taking place later this year. Blue Horizons 2026 is calling for teams to develop and present concepts for a (small) Australian space telescope that could potentially be built using NCRIS astronomy infrastructure funding (OK, very small then).

Volgens het oude recept. In november 2025 werd de overname bekend. Toen was het te vroeg iets te doen. Dus deed men niets. En nu zeggen ze dat het te laat is om nog iets te doen. Klassieke truc die al in Yes Minister aangeraden werd.
To nobody's surprise, they will burn all their satellites up in the atmosphere, because that's what all the cool kids do. They don't actually say their operating lifetimes anywhere. But if they're 5 years like Starlink, then that's a bit more than one satellite burned up per hour.
And will they burn up completely? Well, they say they'll use the same NASA debris model to assess that said that the SpaceX Crew Dragon trunk would burn up. So I'm not worried at all!!
Yes, we should all celebrate Orban leaving office. It is a victory in the fight against autocrats - where Orban was a weird ally of the US AND Russia AND China.
But: This has come at a huge cost for any progressive movements in Hungary. Parliament is now run EXCLUSIVELY by right-wing, anti-migration parties. Leftists voted for Magyar to get rid of Orban.
Magyar will be an easier partner for EU institutions (also increasingly anti-migration). He is no ally for the left.
