@louis Simple: funding! We depend in large part on national funding and our PI had problems raising resources. Any central funding (eg from Gates) goes to surveys in poorer African & Asian societies. (And don't get me started on India...)
@LeanneCPowner @politicalscience @brenton_peterson The online facility is especially useful for time series analysis, where countries come and go over successive waves. Alas there doesn't seem to be an automatic online analysis system for survey data across platforms. Some are far less friendly than the WVS website. We'll try to do better for the next wave but almost all our budget goes on the data collection.
@LeanneCPowner Agree that the online WVS facility is limited - but its better than nothing to help students get a descriptive feel of the variables, before then downloading the whole thing and getting lost in all the waves.

The final dataset for Wave 7 of the Joint World Values Survey/European Values Survey just released covering 100 societies!

Now planning Wave 8...
