TotalEnergies tried to silence Greenpeace France by intimidating them with court action, requiring the deletion of a report into TotalEnergies' 2019 greenhouse gas emissions.
TotalEnergies claimed their emissions were 455 million tonnes of CO2e. The Greenpeace report estimated actual CO2e emissions of 1,635,648,000 tonnes.
The Paris Judicial Court dismissed the summons, giving Greenpeace France a significant victory for freedom of speech, allowing them to question the extent of the climate impact caused by companies like TotalEnergies.

When I heard that Shell are suing Greenpeace for protesting against them, I started to boycott Shell filling stations, riding my motorbike past them to fill up at their competitors. Now I realise that my response was trivial and childish. So I've sold my motorbike and bought an EV. That was the grown-up thing to do.
