Brit author type. Mostly okay but with occasional bad language. Books, I got 'em: https://petefordwriter.com/books/

(Moved to wandering.shop)

@chuckwendig Basically there isn't just one world-spanning email server - most commercial entities have their own - but they can talk to each other (so I can send email from my gmail account to my friend's account at his work, for example). And I could, if I wanted, set up a personal email server. Mastodon seems to be something like that.
@chuckwendig I created an account on wandering.shop, exported/imported follower list, so I'm following you from there (or I will be, when it "takes" on the other instance). But you're correct - if you "switch", follower accounts don't automatically follow you over there. Bummer.
@chuckwendig Yeah that seems to be true 🤔
@slipstream Yeah, it looks like on Tusky you have to log out and in again; Tootdon lets you switch instances easily. Still, I'll hold on to Tusky in the hope that they'll add instance-switching in the near future (mostly because I like the look of Tusky better, but also because one of the first things Tootdon did was to start playing an audio file without asking).
Downloaded @Tusky (Android client for Mastodon) but I can't see how you switch instances. Can anyone help?
Now if I could just figure out how to switch off that "Getting started" column, and maybe set a different colour scheme...
@kevinhearne @roberjbennett @chuckwendig I set up two-factor authentication (with the Google Authenticator) on the mastodon.social instance then when I went to do the same on wandering.shop it looks like it carried over so I didn't have to do it again. That's assuming I'm talking about the same thing...
Hmm... the #under1000 tag is interesting. https://wandering.shop is an #under1000 instance with a strong Code of Conduct that often focuses on #writing and #scifi and #fantasy, but is open to everyone and has writers, knitters, engineers and just plain folks making up our community.
The Wandering Shop

Wandering.Shop aims to have the vibe of a quality coffee shop at a busy SF&F Convention. Think tables of writers, fans and interested passers-by sharing drinks and conversation on a variety of topics.
