Its not so much the power of the bikes (which is aproblem in the worng situations), its more the underage, unlicenced and stupid behaviour by both kids, and some adults. Kids are usually the worst because they have no experience and think they're invincible. There needs to be more policing ansd consequence for illegal bikes, and behaviour, including underage kids riding essentially electric motorcycles.

Trump has lifted sanctions on Iranian oil, so he is literally paying Iran not to surrender. This on top of also doing the same with Iran's ally, Russia.

The USA is now directly funding two of the three nations Trump claims to most oppose, right after Trump lifted import restrictions on China.

All of the senior military brass warned not to attack Iran, which is why Trump turned to the Fox TV cabinet instead.

And of course, Rupert Murdoch never met a war he didn't like.

@andyjennings @timrichards espcially considering Coles is now signed up to use palantir systems for facial recognition and mass surveillance of customers - an american system linked with the US military complex... great... I can see some benefits from it, IF it was used properly, but we all know it won't be.

TV Blackbox

I presented at the local planetary journal club this morning about the 3 articles I co-authored for The Conversation in the past weeks about the effects that one million satellites would have on the night sky, the atmosphere, and the orbital environment (spoiler alert: all very very bad)

https://theconversation.com/a-new-space-race-could-turn-our-atmosphere-into-a-crematorium-for-satellites-276366

https://theconversation.com/too-many-satellites-earths-orbit-is-on-track-for-a-catastrophe-but-we-can-stop-it-275430

And one on light pollution that I thought would get published today but might not be out until after the weekend.

A new space race could turn our atmosphere into a ‘crematorium for satellites’

Planned ‘megaconstellations’ of satellites could cause unforeseen harm to the ozone layer and climate systems. Global regulation is needed before it’s too late.
