@anneapplebaum Countries probe one another all the time. Usually it’s a bomber or spy plane though. And they probably didn’t expect it to float over a whole damn continent.
Also the statement “China has high tech satellites” is doing more heavy lifting than their fancy new spy balloon.

@LewieKong you could create an internet-in-a-box. A Pi 3 or 4 and a 128g microSD card is all you need to have Wikipedia (with images) in one place in case the world ends and people still want to know the names of all the Kings of England.
@vidriocafe @docpop Sure, but airline seats were so much larger back then. You might have been able to fit an Osborne (but not an Osborne 2) on your lap.
@docpop The Computer Museum of America had a whole wall of all his Byte covers. Really incredible stuff. This is one of my favorites.
