Some NHS wards in UK are now demanding a video call of a positive covid test to go off sick. Do they not realise there are easier ways and a decent GP would sign every single one of them off with stress for much longer. It's just profoundly insulting and pathetic

I've seen lots of discussions about what would constitute the collapse of the NHS.
I guess many would agree that 'Don't come to A&E unless at least your arm or leg is hanging off' would settle the discussion.
My local UK health board have just prescribed me (CEV) covid antivirals over the phone. All very efficient etc.
It seems bizarre to me tho that the only way they'll give them to me is by me driving a 3 hour round trip over the hills to the hospital while being ill enough to need antivirals. It doesnt seem sensible.It really didn't help my mood that he spent the first 2 mins telling me how mild omicron is and how everyone is going to get it multiple times so we'd all might as well get on with it.

It makes perfect sense if you conclude they are quite happy for people of a certain age or vulnerability to die. It's an uncomfortable conclusion but, at this point, it's as good a theory as any. The idea they are all just idiots who are making bad decisions just doesn't wash anymore. It is so coordinated. So consistent. So awful

Just watched local ITV news. They had a doctor on who has spent the last 2 years happily minimising covid. Prompted by the presenter with 'Everyone seems to have flu at the moment' he launched into a full on immunity debt rant and said we should all focus on our mental health to strengthen our immune systems. What the hell is wrong with these people?
