Part of a mosaic floor showing a hunting scene presided over by an ‘exceptional charioteer’ (ΕΥΗΝΙΩΝ). The chariot is drawn by two rather handsome and eager-looking panthers.

Sunday = dies Solis - day of Sol, god of the sun. The relief shows the god wearing a radiant crown. The pedestal of a Jupiter column depicting the gods of the week was found in the 18th century, probably in Schwaigern-Stetten (2nd/3rd c. AD).
Happy Sunday!
Fascinating world of ancient #glass: This delicate #Roman blue and white marbled glass unguentarium, a vessel to hold oil/perfume, was made from translucent dark blue glass with trails in opaque white, dating 1st century AD.

The great #Roman bake off: Make your very own showstopper with this recipe for the iconic #Pompeii loaf (panis quadratus). Enjoy a slice of history this weekend — tastes & smells as good today as it must have 2000 years ago! #BreadWeek #GBBO #AnExtraSlice
A #Roman leather #brief/#bikini bottom with a cut-out design, tied on each side of the hips with leather laces. Made of goat leather, from Trier, dating 2nd c. AD. So far, seven differently cut leather briefs are known. It's unclear whether they were used as underwear or whether they were worn by acrobats. A terracotta figurine from #Egypt shows briefs very similar to the one from Trier, the cut-out design is clearly visible.
