It delights me no end to be posting this on a federation server today, the birthday of Isaac Asimov. He would have appreciated this.
Happy Birthday, Isaac Asimov!
“Let’s recognise “anti-wokeness” as what it is: a smokescreen for reactionary, misogynistic, racist, homophobic views. Let’s stop pretending that the people who spout this stuff are speaking for some kind of mythical “authentic” man on the street because it makes you feel better about agreeing with them.”

Short rant.
Southwest Air has cancelled ~70% of its flights in an epic meltdown this holiday season.
Remember, Southwest took $3.7B in federal aid from 2020-21.
It’s CEO got a pay raise to a $9.1M package in 2022.
Yet Southwest employees are working 16 hour shifts & threatened w/termination if they refuse overtime or call in sick.
Socialism for the wealthy. Capitalism for workers.
Stop trusting billionaires. Start holding them accountable. And start protecting workers.
End Rant.
Media is taking the bait that the Jan. 6 committee and Liz Cheney is dangling, that the fault is on "one man." This is her function in whitewashing GOP extremism. She's winning.
The Tea Party is surely cackling because they're shunting the blame off to Trump.
One organizer of Jan. 6 event was the Tea Party Patriots, founded by FreedomWorks, one of the astroturf groups of the Koch network. Their names aren't mentioned in the front-page NYT article today.

Third, the #Christmas memory of plowing through piles of paper in the trash bins, hunting for my young nephew's action heroes swords, boots, helmets and so on. Like clockwork, every year.
Pretty much everyone's gone now, age, covid, cancer and addiction hit hard, but memories are beautiful, lasting things.
The Christmas exchange aftermath:
