I'm pretty sure my undergrad is going to have 4 papers, 1 1st author, by the time she leaves my lab. She started as a freshman.

Doing core work designed by an Olympic gold medalist was a mistake.

@dralgaegirl Best way would be to do some high-throughput sequencing on a MiSeq. I'm not sure about algae, but we typically target the 16S rRNA regions for bacteria sequencing.
I'm a deadline driven person and trying to motivate myself when I don't have deadlines until Jan/Feb/March is hard.
