#fedi22 (for fediverse.info)

I'm still on Reddit for some stuff, but I've joined the fediverse during the blackout protests. I saw people pitching kbin.social and decided to give it a try, and stuck around.

It's called projection. You accuse an enemy of something that actually applies to you or your team. Heavily used by people on the far right. People also refer to it as "every accusation is a confession".

Like when Musk called that diver a pedophile, when Musk is the actual pedophile.

Is he saying there that the entire reason they are destroying the world is to bring about their religious doomsday fantasies?

I mean by now "every accusation is a confession" is pretty much proven about these people. So this too has to be projection and actually about his team.

Really don't see the bait in what OP posted.

Also getting asked to do something is really not included in my definition of powertripping.

Powertripping is a mod abusing their position and power.

Sure usually they just remove posts or ban people, but using their position and the implied threat of removal to pressure someone into weakening their argument (by removing sources) or removing personal opinions the mod doesn't like (which aren't toxic in any way, we're not talking bigotry here) definitely still is powertripping.

But there's zero information gained from a self upvote. If I didn't like my comment, I'd either delete it or edit it until I do.

Of course I like my comment if I keep it up, so a self upvote adds nothing.
The only advantage I see is to make this place look more like Reddit, which isn't really something I care about.

Might have to clarify that my instance (or rather Mbin in general) doesn't do auto upvotes.

Though it doesn't really change my stance. You can swap it around to removing the auto upvote, I don't really see the point behind that being possible either.

If you like your content, keep it up. If you don't like it, either edit it until you do or delete it.
Upvotes and downvotes are for judging the content of others, not your own. So be it adding one when there's zero, or removing the upvote automatically added by your instance, I don't see the point in either being possible.

In my opinion I shouldn't even have the ability to upvote my own comments. I don't really see the point behind doing so.

Whenever I post or comment (collectively, "post"), it has my upvote automatically without me doing anything, so the post always starts at +1/-0.

Lemmy is lying to you there, to trick you into not upvoting your own post. That upvote doesn't exist, the page just pretends it does.

Proof? Mbin displays who upvoted a post. Here's the page for this post. Notice how you aren't among the list.

content aggregator and micro-blogging platform for the fediverse

That's just an email TO Epstein.
So I tried looking through jmail for "kotick", "call of duty", and "microtransaction" and couldn't find it. Neither in the official library (haven't checked call of duty there though, too many results). Do we know that this is actually real? Maybe the articles got removed because it turned out to be fake?
