A large-scale model study led by PIK shows how the global #food system can contribute to #climate mitigation.
It identifies 23 levers, calculates their effectiveness and concludes: a decisive transformation of this sector alone can limit global heating to 1.85°C by 2050.
In addition, food will become healthier and cheaper, and agriculture will be more compatible with biodiversity conservation.

PIK at #IPCC: Nine PIK scientists joined the first Lead Authors’ Meeting for the Seventh Assessment Report on the state of climate science in Paris last week. This meeting marked the start of drafting the three Working Group reports, which will begin publication in 2028, culminating with the Synthesis Report in late 2029.
