New postdoc position on the PROMPT project

An old preverb says the best news arrives just as you are about to close your laptop. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 We will be at the ICA 🎉🎉🎉 @Prof_figtree and Xin Zhao ❤️❤️
@svegaard yeah, I won't see the ads but what about all your trackers on all the other platforms that feed my data to you? How will that data be used to approximate user behaviour for others like me who didn't pay for the sub? These platforms work so hard to make us forget our data isn't only about us.
It seems to me like a ploy to shift the responsibility of unethical trading of personal data to the users. By giving us a "choice", they try to appease those who are most concerned with the ins and outs of social media business models, while for many paying remains unreasonable 🙄 4/4
I am not saying that these platforms absolutely shouldn't be subscription based, maybe that is the only answer to safeguard users in the lack of public social media. But it shouldn't be presented as a choice in exchange for making profit from data many don't fully grasp. And with absolutely no added value that could make paying the fee make sense. 3/4
You may say, "well, it seems like the value is 149kr" but is it? A fixed amount is too arbitrary to give anyone any indication of ad revenue which fluctuates based on user behaviour. Many users won't see the point in paying for something they don't truly understand. 2/4
Meta is now asking me to either pay 149kr per month ($14) or continue using its apps for free in exchange for them using my info to show me Ads. This is not a fair exchange, because it assumes that I know the exact value of the good I'm trading in exchange for free access. 1/4

It is nice to come back from the US and find that despite the weather is in the "I can see my breath" territory, I can still wow at how beautiful Bergen is ❤️
@adrishaw You bet he did! Don't know where his forever home in the house is yet but for now he lives here! ❤️
