Public Service Warning

Mastodon has a very big surge of new users right now. There's no way to tell if it will be sustained, but at this early point it looks similar to Nov 18 when Musk pulled the employee purge.

It is very challenging for system administration to accommodate so many new users. If your server starts to struggle, it is not broken and will get sorted out.

We're all in this together. It's our social network. Be patient. What we are building is amazing.

#twittermigration

If you cannot tell the difference between journalists using public data to hold the powerful accountable and law enforcement demanding people's private data because they think they might be bad guys, I don't know what to tell you. These are fundamentally different things.
@mwop sophisticated phish. Think you were a specific target, or is it a bigger campaign?
@LauraPaxton aye, it has been going around for a while but recently intensified. It is essentially the same thing as the good old nigerian prince scam, but preying on fear rather than greed. Faster to monetize and fear is a poweful motivator. Thx for the awareness post.
@maldr0id @bertrand it's like Lisbon and floods. Huge drought all year, then the moment it rains 'OMG FLOODS!' because nobody prepped the infrastructure for rain season.
I’m not an infosec expert or anything but I don’t think that’s right
@mariaq @malwaretech tusky seems to do a bit of a better job than the official app for instance. The official app seems to put a lot of ppl off.
@mariaq @malwaretech that is true. The realization that you need to follow interesting ppl in the areas you enjoy to see multiple content types is an important one. We should find a way to make to it easier to step over that barrier. Explore helps a but, but only so much so.

@maldr0id I barely even scratched the surface. The bits of RE and binary analysis I have done have mostly been from pure curiosity and non professional hype. But love every bit of it. Figuring out the little tricks of program flow to load malicious code into memory is fun.

Now I am studying a lot of windows exploitation, for work reasons, and I love seeing it from both sides of the coin. What was once a strategy I had to identify and use to put code back together, is now a tool to hide my payload. So fun.

Virtual: it alloc but it also protec.

@gabsmashh welcome to the party
