It turns out that the Dark Star from Dave’s #43 is an excellent soundtrack for waiting in the pick up line

Just letting this Garcia quote do the talking for me today:

“It’s been going on hot and heavy out there for years. But see, everybody’s had a chance to take a good look at it, step away from it, you know, that isn’t it — fighting, and hassling, and bloodletting, and killing and all that shit, that ain’t it. Whatever life is about, that’s not it. You know, I think everybody should take one step backwards and two steps sideways and let the whole thing collapse.”

Take one step backwards and two steps sideways

When I need to escape, nothing beats '73 Dead. Also, Jeffrey Alexander + the Heavy Lidders, Julie Byrne, and Love for Tyler Wilcox.

The Die Must Fall
Just finished reading The Mountain in the Sea. Brilliant novel. It struck me as having a post-Gibson vibe. The plot with the corporations and the fishing boat could have come from him. But the explorations of non human consciousness were fantastic. Highly recommended
@SquirrelyGrrl @mrcompletely when did he discover reggae? Because toasting is as definitely a thing in Jamaica before 1974
There’s nothing like massive Thunder waking you up early on a Sunday :)

Beautiful morning trip to the balloon race.

“We’re in such a hurry most of the time we never get much chance to talk. The result is a kind of endless day-to-day shallowness, a monotony that leaves a person wondering years later where all the time went and sorry that it’s all gone.”

― Robert M. Pirsig

I’m 130 pages into #Babel & it’s feeling more like homework than entertainment. I’m hoping it picks up soon
