@LG5Films Its bad for sure but not sure if its quite as bleak territory as you lay out.

Its not clear how the process will unfold or exact time-frame but discussions will happen sooner than later.

Economically Israel can't avoid the harm of mobilizing so many people. There are enormous cost to not doing so. Outright occupation to a police force only requires rebuilding & operational costs.

Best position for them is to start to walk away & let IMF pay for it but Palestine would need a state.

@LG5Films You can label it PR but Israel has started drawing down troop in Gaza & Biden admin as pressured them to be more selective. Reports are showing 7/30 Hamas battalions remain which warrants less intensity.

You can have your differences about Biden but the opposite is Trump who cut all aid to UNRWA & restricted most other funds to Palestine. Biden remains one of the few global leaders & Democrat still pushing for two-State which is a needed next step. GOP wouldn't even consider that.

@LG5Films
I got you.

There has been pressure on Israel to change their campaign by Biden but sadly more is needed for Israel with allowing better foreign aid access into Gaza.

If war is at risk of spreading then the head of Defense being MIA has a bit of a public concern. Though I don't see how Iran dominoes into other conflicts outside of some harsh maritime disturbances.

@LG5Films Regional war with a strange mix of allegiances. You have to have more of the world fighting than Syria, Iran, & a stalled Russian military in Ukraine to be a world war.

@rchusid Not implying that but the ability is just about in place to allow interfaith/non-religious marriages domestically. They do recognize marriages conducted outside of Israel even if remotely now as well as a start to developing an alternative to the state monopoly even for Orthodox weddings.

Its bizarre for a western democracy for sure. In the region it is quite typical though, and 21% of Israel's population are Arabs. So, the process for changes will be filtered through all groups.

@rchusid didn't Israel's high court rule that civil marriages conducted remotely through Utah must be recognized? Also the org Hashgacha Pratit is pioneering a valid alternative for orthodox weddings outside the Chief Rabbinate .

Casual reminder to @[email protected] @[email protected] that if there isn't at least a SAP line item being funded for Rapid Manufacturing techniques for producing NATO standard munitions in massively increased amounts, you need to fire everyone in the DOD.
