I'm sure I'm not the first person to think that if anything needs "decolonizing" or examined with an equity lens in BC, it's the Societies Act. So many wh!te folks gatekeeping & erecting barriers then saying, "sorry, but Societies Act!" 😐
#bcpoliWatching folks of colour talk about the wh!teness & racism of the Golden Globes gave me serious flashbacks to speaking at union meetings. Ah, wh!te discomfort - awkward but so temporary....
I took a Twitter break & I gotta say I can see how it is so much easier to pretend that life is back to "normal" & there is no Covid if you stay off of Twitter. I mean, I had to come back to check this app just to be sure we are still in a pandemic. Lol but not lol.
We use the word hero so much it has pretty much been rendered meaningless.
