@simon @RichardW_Dev It does take some thinking about - a lot of it is to do with the structure of your lessons and making time for extended student work to allow for live marking. We have a clear 4 part lesson structure, which enables live marking.
@RichardW_Dev @[email protected] I go to them - no queue & I can target the students whose work I want to focus on.
@bellaale love Pass the Pigs!
@aweatherall also, until we change the fixed bell curve of results, 4 in 10 students will always be in that group. No matter whether they know more or can do more than previous cohorts. There is no way of demonstrating improvement in itself. And forcing those students to re-take maths & English under a fixed bell-curve is just farcical and demoralising.
A position is not leadership. A title is not leadership. Power is not leadership. What is leadership are taking actions that empower people to change #leadership #edutoot #edutooter #edutooters #digilead #edleadership
@simon small gestures go a long way. Saying thank you & showing appreciation to staff when they’ve gone above & beyond. Allowing staff to work from home in non-contact time, or time off for important family events (within reason), food available before & someone to serve staff drinks during a parents evening. Bigger whole-school policy changes which can impact well-being: live marking, a choice of CPD opportunities & lesson obs for growth rather than judgement.
@simon @RichardW_Dev Live marking has been a game-changer at our school. I no longer take books home, but can tell how every student in my class is doing & what their strengths / weaknesses are. Live marking involves conversations too so helps build relationships.
@leilag oooh, I like #mflmasterati. Makes us sound like Jedi knights! But I think #mfltooterati is the new kid on the block (which makes me think more owl than Jedi! 😂)

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.

For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).

"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.

There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.

It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.

Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.

@cathsbruv We’re here! 👋🏻 Click on the hashtags. Apparently it also makes a difference which app you use to access Mastodon. @feditips has some good info.
