@adamjcook@jiva@mrzaius@uliwitness I got into Amazon smile by way of my local judo club. Very small non profit. At the time I had already been using Amazon.com for most of my commoditized purchases, so no behavior change on my part. A couple hundred bucks in donations later, and the judo club can buy some uniforms for kids who can't afford them.
@dmitri pretty sure STUXNET 2 is already living in some Russian servers, just waiting for the go signal in response to some truly egregious act. Similarly confident the Russians can temporarily crash the American banking system if they wanted.
@RdoPeta@mmasnick I can understand why- after decades of coasting, the auto industry was primarily based around telling me I'm a bad father and girly man if I don't buy the next huge F150. It was ripe for disruption and a new field of players. Social media may be too, but it will take Musk some fits and starts to find out how.
@mmasnick true, though using a mobile phone as a form of ID is becoming widely adopted industry best practice. It's done through Lexis Nexis, and as yet there is still some risk of abuse. I mean they let a schmo like me access the system and I'm just rank and file
