Just a random guy in Durham, NC
@dnnsconroy @hawaii @ProfJ Baseball news/discussion is the biggest things from the bird site that I have been missing here. Hope that it makes it over...
@rossgrady @charliereece What I am probably actually doing wrong is looking for a way to make this place replace my bird site community rather than just being its own thing. But, I kind of hate losing the community I had there entirely.
@rossgrady @charliereece Hash tags seem like a good idea that I should explore more. If I can come up with some decent ones, it might point me in directions I was not finding before.

@rossgrady @charliereece I think that my biggest problem is that I used the bird app as my primary place to get baseball news and engage in nerd stats/sports conversations and I just don't think much of that community has moved over here.

I did try another instance that was focused on book reviews/discussion, since I also did a fair amount of that as well. When I got admitted I discovered that it was pretty much all in Japanese, so that didn't really work out.

What is the best way to find other instances of interest? My first attempt at joining a second instance that I thought would be good didn't work out the way I thought it would...
@thomrstrom The biggest thing is baseball. There was an active fan and news community that I enjoyed being a part of.
Overall, I think the move from the bird site here has been a positive one, but there definitely are communities from the old place that I haven't found here and I am not sure if there is a way to replace them.
@autumn Is the best way to pick an instance just based on something like genre interest?
Is #Bookwrym a viable alternative to Goodreads? Is there a decent "For Dummies" explanation out there?
