I've been in the tech industry for over 30 years, as a developer, tester, journalist, marketer, author, and more. I spent 12 years at Microsoft full-time helping game developers create games all over the world, and am currently the Product Marketing Lead for Programming Tools at Unity Technologies.

I am finding it difficult to find/add people from outside the people making.games instance.
I have several friends on mastodon.social that I just cannot see at all no matter what I do. I have tried to put in the full https://mastodon.social/@username - it resolves in the browser but when I click Follow, it tells me to copy-paste the url into my instance's search which then gives me no results.
Any ideas welcome
