“I wanted the blue checkmark on LinkedIn. The one that says “this person is real.” In a sea of fake recruiters, bot accounts, and AI-generated headshots, it seemed like a smart thing to do.

So I tapped “verify.” I scanned my passport. I took a selfie. Three minutes later — done. Badge acquired. I felt a tiny dopamine hit of legitimacy.

Then I did what apparently nobody does. I went and read the privacy policy and terms of service.

Not LinkedIn’s. The other company’s”

People that complain about Europe not making enough of a fist towards the U.S. while not understanding that Europe needs a massive program, right now, to become U.S.-cloud-independent A.S.A.P. are dangerously stupid. YES, I KNOW IT WILL BE DIFFICULT, BUT THE ALTERNATIVE SUCKS MUCH HARDER.
So when Trump decides to go get Greenland he’s just going to fly in and kidnap our prime minister. Great. You have a unscrupulous and clinically insane idiot elected as your president and he wants to own the world. I have absolutely no trust in any of you Americans whether you are pronounced MAGA or if you “didn’t vote for the guy”: Your elected president is a megalomaniac dictator and it’s your fucking responsibility to stop him.
Nonsense in the FT: "Miguel De Bruycker, director of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), told the Financial Times that it was “currently impossible” to store data fully in Europe because US companies dominate digital infrastructure". Nonsense, yet policymakers believe this - I talk about our *Self-inflicted* cloud crisis in this piece: https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/our-self-inflicted-cloud-crisis/
Europe's Self Inflicted Cloud Crisis - Bert Hubert's writings

The short version For decades, governments and organizations could run services based on servers we actually owned. These days, we’ve allowed the IT world to convince us no computing is possible outside of US-style clouds, for which we have no European equivalents. And because of this conviction, we are now moving our most precious data and most critical services to US controlled servers. Yet most of European government software still runs on locally owned systems.

Cc: @bert_hubert

Opposition to Chat Control within Denmark is growing. Fast. If you are a Danish citizen, please consider signing the Chat Control petition: https://www.borgerforslag.dk/se-og-stoet-forslag/?Id=FT-21156

At 50 000 signatures, it is automatically submitted to the parliament and undergoes the standard legislative process, including potential debates, review, and vote.
