Disinformation peddlers are now suing media & tech companies on the theory that collaborating to combat disinformation violates antitrust law. Going Digital to Advance Data Governance for Growth and Well-being | en | OECD

Data are generated wherever digital technologies are deployed namely, in almost every part of modern life. Using these data can empower individuals, drive innovation, enable new digital products and improve policy making and public service delivery.

Glad to hear both Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD and Nadia Calvino, V.P. for Economic Affairs and the Digital Transformation of Spain stressing the need for a "human-centric #DigitalTransformation" during the opening session of the Digital Ministerial in the Canary Islands. And very glad to hear that one of the "deliverables" of the Ministerial will be a Global Tech Forum to be announced later. It will include non-OECD reps, too. #OECDdigital https://www.oecd-events.org/digital-ministerial/en/sessions

I agree with Jack Dorsey's point here.

Yes, the problem with the Internet today is that companies own both the protocol and discovery of content.

But who created this problem?

It was you, Jack!

You decided to shut off Twitter's API to developers! You decided that Twitter's monetization model was as a publisher! You popularized this model that every VC is now chasing!

This is why we're very skeptical of Bluesky.

An exciting, interesting week for digital policy wonks:

The OECD Digital Ministerial conference was last held in 2016 in Cancun. This year, live from the Canary Island NOW, Wednesday, and Thurday: https://www.oecd-events.org/digital-ministerial/en

At the Carnegie Endowment at 1000-1130 AM EST: https://carnegieendowment.org/2022/12/13/how-can-u.s.-support-inclusive-digital-transformation-in-africa-event-7999

And the @The_IIC annual Washington telecom and media conference in DC. https://www.iicom.org/event/tmf-washington-dc-telecommunications-and-media-forum-in-person/
(Competing with the AND the World Cup semi-final at 1400 EST. Sigh!)
