@geerlingguy @paul

Sound really good, but my M1 Pro MacBook is still so good. Battery is at 83% and last more than a Day and I don't got any new workloads that would justify a upgrade.

Also I just got a MacBook Air 15" M3 at Work at and it is (in most tasks) as fast as the M1 Pro, but passive cooled. I'm actually thinking that apple could pause developing CPUs for some time and still would be miles ahead.

Today is one of the days I love the internet.
My child has a toy kitchen, with two LED „cooking plates“ which drain the 6 AA batteries within a few days, despite them automatically turning off.
I opened it up and googled the serial number of the IC and the first thing that popped up was a 10 year old thread of two guys having the same problem. They reverse engineered the board and build a replacement based on a MSP430.

@geerlingguy we had the same here in Germany a couple of days ago. It was perfectly timed during a (remote) interview for a new working student at our company. My boss was connect via teams iOS App and the alarm kicked him out of the meeting 😂
I guess the alarm ends all calls on iOS
Zumindest nichts positives

I thought that might be something you enjoy at Geerling Engineering, @geerlingguy ...If you haven't seen it already ;)

@geerlingguy Isn’t this kind of what you would expect. Roughly 2 Ampere Cores match 1 M1 Core, considering that the Ampere is specifically designed for many „lighter“ workloads, the benchmark results seems plausible to me.
@tay @marcan could you elaborate why?

@marcan don’t get me wrong I use HA and appreciate the contributions of every developer. But sometimes they make odd decisions [1]. Keeping the hardcoded links is bad, but refusing PRs and locking the conversation is just mind boggling to me.

@geerlingguy I think you found a good 80/20 solution that will most likely suit your needs 👍
@geerlingguy looking good 👍 I remember when they build a recording studio in the backyard of our block. They poured tons of „rubber“ underneath the foundation to decouple the whole building 😳
