@tinker maybe this person is really bad at returning books on time and their ransom is to have their fines forgiven

@alberg Oh wow. Speaking as one of those "less sophisticated attackers" myself, this is scarily easy to use lol
@hacks4pancakes Gen Z here, I totally understand your students. I would be absolutely terrified to do IRL fundraising for anything, before or after covid.
@espercontrol the way I think about these sorts of things is that like, even "the best game of all time" is at most going to be enjoyed by 99% of its players. With how many games there are out there, this means that statistically there are going to be a handful or so where you are in that 1% of people who just can't enjoy them.
@ferrix I find it very amusing that the billionaires who profit from AI now have a significantly more pessimistic view of AI than you.
@Rog AI alignment is tough because we currently have no way of ensuring that we instill it with *any* human values. Someone aligning an AGI to have the exact values of a far-right human is already miles ahead of what we currently think we're capable of ("aligning" an AGI which eventually kills everyone in pursuit of some utility function which has some extremely subtle issue which is impossible to detect).
@malwaretech Idk, all the AI safety researchers I've seen actually doing legitimate work with AI alignment have nothing to do with cryptobro/tech bro culture. I don't think the fact some portion of cryptobros have decided to care about AI alignment for some hypocritical reason should be a mark against The Idea Of AI Alignment rather than the cryptobros.

@malwaretech I'm obsessed with the last one. What can "non-rotational topographical map" possibly mean? I guess a map of the Earth's topology does not have rotational symmetry?

Were they trying to reference topology in some way? Because that would raise even more questions tbh, because a "topological map" is just a function.

They clearly had *some* idea they wanted to communicate, and I desperately want to know what it is lmao

@malwaretech This is probably none of my business (in which case please ignore me) but why can't you go back to the UK yet?
