Wisdom from @prowag:
"Democracy cannot thrive or survive without a media ecosystem willing to report verifiable truths about the core tenets of democracy — even if those truths currently favor one major political party over another."
The final report's refusal to discuss in detail Christian nationalism, racism, anti-abortion extremism, & other far-right ideologies matches what we heard initially based on the executive summary.
Not all members of the committee agreed w/this approach: https://tyt.com/reports/7015be31e708f973a/07b47bfda34ae2fd8
Florida Governor DeSantis often accuses people of being "Woke". So it was interesting when DeSantis' attorney was asked for a definition of "Woke" as part of a Court hearing.
DeSantis’ general counsel, Ryan Newman, responded that the term means “the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”
So it's official! Anti-Woke means someone who denies there are any systemic injustices. Or maybe only just denies the need to address them!
Just FYI: Not many professional philosophers are libertarians. It is a political philosophy which is difficult to defend. Not many takers.
Even the single most important libertarian dropped it after writing his famous book - didn't even mention it. He later recanted entirely (though he seemed to reaffirm libertarianism at the end.)
I can go into as much detail on this as anyone wants, though a format like social media is not ideal for such a discussion.
Sean Hannity confirms in a deposition that he knew he was lying when he was pushing The Big Lie on his show immediately after the election.
“I did not believe it for one second.”

That is where "working the refs" comes in. Conservatives always do what psychologists call "projection." That is, they angrily accuse others of doing the bad things that they, the conservatives, are doing.
And it works! The major news outlets pull their punches when it comes to reporting on the GOP.
Of course, the largest news media outlets are for-profit corporations. Their owners and managers are all affluent, and most are white males. They are driven by ratings and advertising. The advertisers are likewise owned and managed by affluent individuals, mostly white males.
To say that the large news media are slanted to the left is like saying that gravity goes upward. It is like saying that things fall up. Every motive of all the decision makers points to a rightward slant.
Conservatives work the media the way certain athletes "work the refs." It is like tilting a pinball machine. They have been doing this for decades. No, NYT, both sides do not do this. One side does it, and the other does not.
Conservatives intimidate journalists, who know they will be insulted if they don't tiptoe around conservatives, and shield them from at least some of the blame for the things they do.
