@felicityhannah Our granddaughter recently lost a tooth while staying with us. Necessitated an urgent WhatsApp discussion with Mum to determine the current going rate.
@felicityhannah Change is inevitable. (It may not be for the better, of course.)

@peppersnap Ah yes, Porsemousse. 🙂
@sadgrove That priest is a wonderful person. A few weeks earlier she had arranged for him to travel from his nursing home to the church where he had been Reader for 40 years, and which had really been his life. There was a party there, with his family, colleagues and other friends. I played "For he's a jolly good fellow" on the organ. A bit like a wake while the person is still alive. She moved to a different parish in the city many years ago, but came back to look after our Reader. Remarkable!
@sadgrove A Reader in our parish was recently visited on his deathbed by one of our priests. She held his hand and played him the spirituals from Tippett’s ‘Child of our time’ at his request, using her mobile phone. He died during ‘Go down Moses’ (“let my people go”).

Truly heart breaking what the @[email protected] have done to the #NHS

A few days ago I said the NHS had never been closer to collapsing. I think it's fair to say it has now collapsed in many parts of the country (read through the thread for details). There will be significant excess deaths as a result. https://twitter.com/ShaunLintern/status/1608438646637723648

@TomatoSoup I haven't followed the arguments closely, as I said. I agree that all women, whether trans or not, are human beings whose wellbeing should be fostered. Unfortunately the arguments seem to be producing more heat than light at present. But I am optimistic that a way forward will eventually be found.
@TomatoSoup I confess to a lot of ignorance about these matters, so I'll have to take your word for it. We certainly agree that threats of violence are not a good way of conducting an argument.
