@latenightowl I wrote a blog post on setting up Prosody on Debian a while back. It’s for version 12 of Prosody and Debian Bookworm but it should still work.
Version 13 of Prosody has some nice new features so I’ll get around to updating it at some point.
Hopefully it helps you:

@llutz @hanscees I used Hurricane Electric for my personal domains for over 10 years and can recommend the service.
Last year I switched to https://desec.io/ because i wanted support for ACME DNS-01 and DNSSEC. It’s run flawlessly since so I can recommend them too.
@looopTools Xiaomi devices ship with HyperOS which has a similar look to pre-26 iOS.
@25admins Haven’t hosted my own email for about 20 years now but back then I, too, used Postfix and Dovecot.
They’re both solid pieces of software but I think, if I were to host email today, I’d consider using Stalwart instead.
Stalwart does SMTP, POP3, IMAP, & JMAP for email. It also supports CalDAV, CardDAV & WebDAV for calendars, contacts & file storage. Built-in DMARC, DKIM, SPF & ARC too.
Do Jim or Allen have any experience/opinion on Stalwart?
@unixviking I’m less concerned with US-based companies that release software as opensource since the software *could* (and probably would) be forked.
I think the most pressing issue at the moment is payment services. Mastercard & VISA are US-based & subject to the whims of the mad tyrant.
SE Asian countries have A2A alternatives & Wero has something similar for Europe but roll-out needs to be massively accelerated & also expanded to non-EU countries.
@dfx I’ve got both Android and iPadOS tablets.
Been using base model iPads for the last decade but, wanting to move away from Apple, I picked up a Redmi Pad 2 Pro (Matte version) last week.
The Redmi lacks TouchID and Android’s tablet app ecosystem is even more lacking than the iPad but the audio quality of the Redmi blows the iPad away.
I mostly use tablets for in-bed reading, looking stuff up, and media consumption so either ecosystem fits my use-case.
@arnan Yeah. If you’re using the same Apple ID on all your Apple devices there should be a similar option on Apple’s other OS’s.
Here’s a guide for those not yet enrolled in the Beta programme that wish to do so:
