Sad trombone noise for birdsite.
And of course, Musk elonified the error page.
Imagine if schools were fitted with proper ventilation and filtration which, by itself, can reduce infection by 85%. Since covid and other airborne diseases primarily spread from schools (and care settings, but not masking there is just clear insanity) we might even consistently get the R value under 1
It's such low hanging fruit. It's not even that expensive and governments already have the kind of control over schools to do this. Instead we're just doing nothing, for reasons
Hell it's so easy to sell too. Don't wanna remind people about covid? Don't mention it! Just say that CO2 buildup makes it harder for people to think analytically and process information, and that if students have better air and get things like colds and flu less often their academic performance will be better!
But no, better to just do nothing when there's low hanging fruit right fucking there
Went to a donut shop in Japan today.
They had a CO2 monitor on the counter and a UV light on, plus circulating air through the ventilation system.
Also all the staff and most of the customers were masked. 😷
It's really not that hard and if a donut shop can do it we can certainly do it at least in schools and hospitals.
This is more what I'd think "Live with the virus" looks like. What we're doing feels more like "Pretend there is no virus".
Edit: UV light is a bug zapper.
it's worth reminding people that groups on your side going conspicuously silent as things heat up probably means they're doing more to help rn than when they were loud
not a signal of lack of support i hear people thinking. "where were all these orgs that were up in arms a year ago just completely dark right now" I don't know and I think most parties would probably be better off if I didn't know, but they're probably doing way more impactful work than they were.
otherwise they'd be posting.
Great news.
N.Y. ditches gas stoves, fossil fuels in new buildings in first statewide ban in U.S.
It pisses me off so much that Powell was crowing about wages going down, and wage increases going down, and called both a good thing.
The platitudes he spouted about the Fed board understanding that their actions have consequences felt like a sick joke.
