Mom. Wife. Romani & brown. Anti-fascist. Humanist. she/her

Please help form a decentralized anti-fascist movement. We need a sound strategy that people can follow, so we all work in the same direction. You have a platform? Communicate strategy to your audience. Explain the duty to fight fascism to them. You are an average person like me? Learn at least one skill that's useful in a conflict under the strategy above. Volunteer. Be laser-focused on reducing fascist capabilities & resources

When government officials lie about vaccine safety, it leads to deadly consequences. Our leaders are supposed to provide accurate, scientifically-backed data. When they fuel anti-fax conspiracies based on pseudo-science, they create vaccine hesitancy, and that leads to greater loss of life.

I’m looking at you, Florida Surgeon General.

What I always hear: “We can’t afford to pay our workers $15 an hour.”

What I never hear: “We can’t afford to pay our CEO millions of dollars a year.”

Funny how that works.

Apropos of nothing, if you complain that a group of Jews who fight against antisemitism are responsible for destroying the value of your company, you are antisemitic.
Some hard truth here.

Arkansas banned paying for AP African history tests—but pays for AP European history

TX banned abortion b/c a fetus has rights—but reject liability for a stillbirth b/c a fetus has no rights

N Dakota GOP banned free school lunches—but gave themselves free lunches

For the GOP, hypocrisy isn’t a bug—it’s the feature. Vote them out.

Given how companies are scrambling to avoid offending right-wingers, whenever I see any news about a diverse show being cancelled, or a minority character being side-lined, or a change in upcoming installments that decrease diversity … I can’t help wondering if there’s a certain motivation behind it: the company wanting to pivot to fit the current political climate, even if that means doing the wrong thing and backing down to bigots.

"Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas changed his position on one of America’s most significant regulatory doctrines after his wife reportedly accepted secret payments from a shadowy conservative network pushing for the change."

Yup. Thomas's rulings are nowhere near as consistent as his defenders claim. E.g., his arbitration rulings bear no resemblance to his stated jurisprudence.

Clarence Thomas Reversed Position After Gifts And Family Payments

The Supreme Court justice switched sides on a landmark legal doctrine, satisfying his benefactors’ conservative advocacy machine.

Support the WGA strike! This is one of the first strikes (that I know of) to focus on preventing companies from replacing writers with algorithms. Seems like something that newspaper guilds will grapple with soon too. https://www.wgacontract2023.org/strike-hub
Strike Hub

Writers are facing the most comprehensive assault on compensation and working conditions that they have seen in a generation. Find out why writers are calling the WGA an existential fight for the future of the profession and get links to all things strike-related here.

When Starfleet judge advocate generals take any interstellar voyages on the dime of the Ferengi, they always report them to command.

Just saying.

Not sure who needs to hear this today, but remember, your local public library benefits from being used! Usage statistics are how librarians argue for funding! By using this shared service more, you are making it BETTER for everyone else!

It's the glory of the commons, not the tragedy of the commons. Go to the library!!!
