@dangillmor @Popehat The train left the station of mutual respect and free speech for everyone several hundred miles ago. It is about to pull into the station of rampant political violence. (Not endorsing this just predicting it)
#DeSantis_Putin_China_&_GOP
DeSantis & MAGA think we don't have a vital interest in Ukraine, are afraid of provoking nuclear armed Russia & are eager to take on China & CCP over Taiwan. It seems to me that the word 'communist' makes all the difference. The MAGA crime family are hot to trot on the CCP but have little problem with the Putin organized crime family. The CCP though also a mob syndicate is no more communist than the GOP is republican. China is also a major nuclear power.

@flexghost "Some of the bill’s opponents have argued that teenage marriages are a part of life in West Virginia.

Kanawha County Republican Sen. Mike Stuart, a former federal prosecutor who sided with the majority, said his vote “wasn’t a vote against women.” He said his mother was married when she was 16, and “six months later, I came along. I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”

West Virginia, child marriages, rape and incest - Perfect together!

@tdwllms1 Don't ban books or abortion medication. Ban Christianity! 2000 years of experience have shown it to be neither safe nor effective.

#Second_amendment_&_Bruen
The arguments in the line of cases beginning with Heller are plain camouflage for the real
'conservative' argument that the 'true' meaning of the second amendment is that citizens must
be able to arm themselves so as to be able to overthrow the government should the need arise. The
justices' failure to state so explicitly is merely their reluctance to shout f*ck in a crowded theater.
@emilymbender Not entirely true. Chat GPT has a lot of information at its disposal and a lot of the time correctly applies it. If, for example, you want to know why a certain argument is an example of an informal fallacy, you will get a correct answer. So far I have also found it pretty good at supplying answers to mathematical and algorithmic problems. On the other hand it didn't understand a chess position I showed it and worse attempted to fake it.
#Tucker_Carlson
Would I be out of line, were I to suggest that the country needs to reconsider, if it can afford to continue to provide to Tucker Carlson, the freedoms, liberties, constitutional and other legal protections given to Americans?
@QasimRashid Here's a question for you. Assuming the Constitution as it existed in 1857 would the present SCOTUS majority opine that Dred Scott was correctly decided? Would a majority of 'conservative' federal appellate judges do the same?

@DeanObeidallah

The meaning of crossing a picket line. An article I read about Dalton Trumbo and the 1960 Spartacus mentioned that President Kennedy, a month after his inauguration crossed a 'picket line' instigated by the American Legion in order to view the movie. The article while approving of Kennedy's role in ending blacklisting stated that crossing a picket line was 'not cool' for a Democrat and a civil rights advocate. This was not a 'picket line' in my book.

Your thoughts?
