I recently retired after working for over 35 years in an HR function in a large organization including both technical and leadership roles. Still open to some part time short term work depending if it suits me. I’m legally blind and live in Perth Western Australia. I’m interested in greater involvement #Blind advocacy particularly around online and app #accessibility. I love all the new tech knowing that success means you need high tech high touch to ensure it works for the customer base – that
@Woody my brother MC – J6 80 D W. Multifunction Printer has decided to no longer want to work. So I’m looking to buy a new multifunctional printer. Any experience or comments on accessible printers i.e. that jaws and NVDA work well with their windows software suite? The brother controlcentre4tool I found was not that accessible.
Will the recently introduced social media ban in Australia mean that blind and low vision children under the age of 16 won’t be able to use the Meta Rayban glasses?
How good is the #ashes #cricket! go You Australian good things!
@aaronpreston It’s like life, you should always validate information through multiple sources. However, my experience today has been very positive not withstanding the occasional hallucination.
Last night I used #BeMyAI to help some sided colleagues on holiday to get their air conditioner to work correctly, Understand how to use there dishwasher and how to use the induction cooktop in their holiday rental. All bye just taking photos and asking for the instructions with simple questions. Now I could’ve used #ChatGPT or #Gemini and that’s what I told them they could do in the future. Quicker than Google and solving simple everyday problems. Not rocket science I know but an every day use of AI that some people forget about.
It was a real case of the blind leading the blind!
@tallandtrue Go the mighty Royals we were very unlucky this year
@davidv Absolutely agree, freezing this morning!
@davidv Going to Italy in August so thought they might be useful for some situations over there. Would definitely recommend doing some practice with them first though from what I have experienced so far.
Tried out the new #Meta live translation feature on the Ray-Ban glasses yesterday with my wife who speaks fluent French. Worked pretty well. Only issue that I can see is that it picks up everything and I guess that could be a little bit confusing when you’re out in a busy place. Anyone else tried to use the translation feature?
Has anyone use the #Omron connect app and is it accessible. This is an app for blood pressure monitor. Feedback appreciated, thank you.
