@mekkaokereke Hold up, I can't have read this right. Florida bans teaching how gender, race, class, and sex bigotry join up to form SuperBigotry. It extra special bans teaching queer racism. It bans "Critical Race Theory" which it defines as "anything that makes white folk look or feel bad." And the AP's response is to take those things out of the African American Studies test nationwide??? My kids in California learn that stuff in their AP AAS class. I super duper want them to learn that stuff. They are in the tiniest intersectional "minority" in their high school: blue-eyed, blonde-haired CisHet (at least one of them - the younger is mum about that) males. They know they play the game of life on easy mode, and want to learn what the other 99% of the school deals with.

And it's not like DeSantis will stop with this class. AP World History and American History have that stuff too, and even more stuff banned by Don't Say Gay. He'll ban those next. He'll ban AP Comp Sci for talking about how Turing died.

Martin Luther King’s life work continues to call on us to eliminate racism in our community. This is critical for us here in #Florida, where Gov. #DeSantis and his ilk are working to snuff out efforts to teach & learn about systemic racism — snuffing out efforts to call it out, and root it out. We have a lot of work to do. #MLK

@RiversideBryan That’s an azalea. Characteristic of southern landscapes. My grandparents’ home in Tampa was banked in azaleas, just like that one, which was a very traditional look for their time.

I cannot keep this to myself. There is a website (radio.garden) where you can listen to radio stations all over the world for free. No log in. No email address. Nothing.

When the site loads, you are looking at the globe. Slide the little white circle over the green dots (each green dot is a radio station) until you find one you like.

I have been listening to this station in the Netherlands and it absolutely slaps.

EDIT: Replies tell me that this doesn't function in the UK without a VPN.

Cruise robotaxis recently arrived in Austin. A new video shows one driving inside a bike lane: https://t.co/sJzpwvYE4i

Cruise says "the car wouldn't have gone into the bike lane if there was a cyclist there."

That's not a valid excuse for human drivers -- nor for AVs.

Cruise also says it's now updating its maps to prevent vehicles from driving in bike lanes "in that area." That should be done *before* deploying robotaxis in a city, not after.

@Mrsabwillard @stonedonkey Hummingbirds mostly migrate through #Florida twice a year on their way between their northern summer homes, and their southern winter homes — though sometimes a stray one will stay longer. I’ve found them to be much more attracted to actual nectar plants than feeders in my yard. They love Firebush, Coral Honeysuckle, Scarlet Salvia, and even yellow Necklace Pod. I have those things planted right outside my windows, so I see them often.

How beautiful and appropriate it was, and a timeless reminder of what we have before us in 2023. ❤️
