Sometimes, I go look at what the gamepad controls are like on the industry leader in a given genre I'm working on, so I can be consistent with what people are familiar with, and they're honestly so bad that I just end up doing my own thing, anyway.
Trying to merge refactored code is like O. Henry’s "The Gift of the Magi,” only without any love to console you.
That's probably the second time I ever impulse-purchased a video card.

I first became aware of shaders after Elder Scrolls: Morrowind was released. My water, in the game, didn't look like the amazing water in the pictures on the box.

I investigated the matter, and discovered that this new water effect was produced by programmable shaders, and I decided that I needed to understand them.

But first, I needed to run out and buy a new video card. Immediately.

The listed authors of #StochasticParrots (@emilymbender Angelina McMillan-Major & @mmitchell_ai) which was referenced in a letter calling for a six-month pause on "training AI systems more powerful than GPT-4," have written a statement.

"The harms from so-called AI are real & present and follow from the acts of people & corporations deploying automated systems. Regulatory efforts should focus on transparency, accountability & preventing exploitative labor practices."

I need to come up with a game that requires lots of spline reticulation, so I have an excuse to show a "Reticulating splines" progress bar, only completely serious.

I always like to say:

"Every manual process is an opportunity to screw up."

But now I have to also add:

"This also goes for anything you do with an AI."

Just saw a poster for a game I worked on in the background in a sitcom, and it's so weird.
Personally, I've had my name misspelled in multiple games, and in one case, I was credited with "Additional Programming" after working as a senior programmer for almost four years on the project.
Many of us have horror stories about bad crediting. Don't be an asshole. Plan for it early, and do it right.
