The #YouTube algorithm can still show you pretty cool stuff, if you can wrangle it well enough to keep it from shoving fascist propaganda in your face.
Case in point: it just suggested this extremely fedi-coded #music video (if that's the right word) of a guy live mixing a track in a #terminal application.
His terminal output is on the screen, so you can actually see him comment out lines of code and hear the music change because of it.
Sure, I would've preferred he use Forgejo instead of Github, but I won't let "perfect" get in the way of "good".
Governments around the world are demanding backdoors into encrypted data.
🚪What are backdoors?
🔒How do they undermine our right to privacy and security?
🛡️What can you do to protect our right to privacy?
Spend #GlobalEncryptionDay learning the importance of protecting encryption 👇

Hell yeah, my author managed to Frankenstein their two Thinkpad X270s, so now they have one machine with 16 GB of RAM, a 500 GB NVMe and a 1080 touchscreen to run @QubesOS, and one with 8GB of RAM, a 256 GB NVMe and a 720 screen to play around with @alpinelinux
They also replaced the keyboards (the backlight had broken on one, and the other wasn't backlit anyway), and now #QubesOS is installing the template VMs.
Since I only get to exist in strictly compartmentalized environments, I have been confined to my dedicated GrapheneOS user profile while the Qubes machine was out of commission, and the mobile interface was starting to feel really cramped.
And soon, my author will get to do one of their favorite things about setting up Qubes on a new system: changing the desktop background.
Because QubesOS prevents you from writing files to dom0 (which handles the desktop), you can't copy the background image to a location where it can be used as a desktop background. So what do you do?
Well, you can't write files to dom0, but dom0 can create files itself, so you just take a screenshot while some appVM is showing the image in full screen mode.
I absolutely love this quirk.
Germany’s 🇩🇪 Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on Chat Control:
"Every breach of end-to-end encryption increases the attack surface and poses high risks" https://mastodon.social/@[email protected]nd.de/115311320471994980
It’s time to say NO to Chat Control and protect everyone’s privacy! 🔐 #ChatControl #surveillance #Chatkontrolle #encryption #privacy
Also if any of you from Germany plan to phone the Bundestag before the 9th october regarding chatcontrol, I'll also add the email that I used for you to use as a reference what you're going to say and if you want you can also add your own words to argue against it. Try to remain calm while calling the politicians even if the topic might get you worked up and stay defiant in your cause.
Feel free to look around in my profile for more infos and to take action against cc.
Privacy rights aren't a luxury, they are fundamental to democracy, to safety, and to so many other human rights.
When they attack your privacy rights,
they attack all of this, they attack your humanity.
Do not let them.
Fight back for your human rights.
