The first half of December was really cold, with temperatures dropping below -10°C at night. I have a caravan window in my roof where the cold and humidity crept in to the degree that I had to scrape several millimeters of ice off in the mornings. This window is also the only part of my roof insulated with just one layer, so it's a thermal bridge where inside humidity amasses.
I decided to build a second window pane that I could set into the roof insulation's opening under the caravan window. I wanted it to be taken out easily, so that I could again open the caravan window in summer. Since I didn't immediately find a fitting frame, I build one myself.
This post details the building process. Refer to images and image descriptions for more information, too. Apologies for clumpsy word choice where I didn't know the correct terms.

Glued the sides, then the pieces of the top frame, finally encasing the acrylic glas pane. The final step was to cut off some excess part of the wood lath on one side.
