Doubtful. The southern "Dixiecrats" were Dems back then.

Lester Maddox, George Wallace, Bull Conner, etc. we're all Democrats.

The shift happened after LBJ and his voting rights wins, which the southern Democrats considered a betrayal. That opened the door for Nixon's southern strategy of carrying the south by appealing to the southern white racists in 1968. It worked and the racists found a new home.

This would be deliciously scandalous if true.

I'm not convinced it would have any effect on the GOP, however. They warmly embraced Mr. Trump even though his background includes financial impropriety, sexual assault , rape and exploitation of underaged females.

My mother died from a perforated bowel at 96 last year. Her father died from a perforated bowel at 86. It's pretty common. I think the bowel loses the ability to move waste.

It is possible. There's no requirement that the Speaker be a member of the House.

If he were elected Speaker then MAGA would assassinate the President and VP to make him President.
