Saturday, @josefbeery.bsky.social +collaborators gave a lovely gift to the Alphabuzzzz cohort (folks learning how to teach letterpress history+creativity to public/K-12/library community): a day of book history learning w/ @rarebookschool.bsky.social @rareuva.bsky.social @scholarslab.bsky.social makerspace visits, & printing on a big replica Franklin Common Press. Will share photos this week as time allows+
If you're near Charlottesville & have kids (low minimum age: old enough to use safety scissors) join the Alphabuzzzz teachers at the VA Humanities Book Arts printshop on 3/15 for free hands-on history learning & creativity w/letterpress. No experience needed. Learn to make cool colorful prints to take home: https://www.vabook.org/events/2025/03/alphabuzz-wkshops/

@chrisamaphone Hi! The authors didn't create that GIF so can't edit it, but here's a "DIY Web Archiving Zine" link https://zinebakery.com/homemade-zines/bakeshop-2-diywebarchiving with a non-flashing cover image for sharing instead. Thanks for asking!

Also this week, I made a light-up resin TTRPG dice necklace for a friend! (Still haven't achieved rollable dice yet, but having LED wires come out of one die face gets around the challenge of getting the top of the mold to closely match the other die faces) #DHmakes
Tried to include embedded large googly eyes, but they migrated from where they should be during curing, unfortunately, so not visible. I'm not sure if I should add to the exterior or keep as-is—what do yall think? #DHmakes
I finished making a silly resin memento mori. Brain is a dry ramen noodle block, teeth are novelty chatter teeth, and it took ~ a week of daily pours/sets and curing time. It's full-size (just the front half of a skull). #DHmakes

My article discusses:
* citing & shelving many knowledge formats as a justice issue;
* benefits of building you a lil db of stuff you dig;
* using datasets to design & build book-adjacent electronics, fabrication, coding, art, etc. prototypes
* includes a bonus making tutorial!
