@stopfundinghate The fact that Mastodon doesn’t run on advertising, and therefore doesn’t rely on clicks/eyeballs (making the people the product for brands and businesses to buy) is key to avoiding hate on social media platforms like Twitter.

In the clamour for clicks, emotive/ triggering content is valued by advertisers, and the platform owners pander to them as the financiers of the platform.
